SUMO Robots
Instructed by Eng. Izzeldeen Manasra
Course Overview
SUMO Robot course, in this course you’ll dive into the thrilling world of SUMO robot competitions. Gain a deep understanding of game rules, strategies, and techniques through theoretical knowledge, hands-on experiences, and expert guidance. Explore previous champions’ strategies and analyze their strengths and weaknesses, applying those insights to the design and construction of your own competitive robots. Learn about essential robot components, such as motors, wires, batteries, wheels, microcontrollers, and sensors, and make informed selections for optimal performance. Develop design skills using Solidworks, enabling you to design and assemble 2D and 3D models, considering laser cutting and 3D printing techniques for efficient fabrication.
In the practical phase, assemble your robot using laser-cut MDF wood and 3D-printed PLA plastic, utilizing tools like soldering equipment and automatic strippers. Shift focus to control systems and programming, understanding signal types and programming basics using the Arduino C language. Gain hands-on experience in sensor calibration, testing, and data analysis through serial communication with a laptop. Finally, develop a fully functional SUMO robot through step-by-step coding, incorporating advanced functionalities and sensor priorities.
By course completion, you’ll possess the knowledge and skills to design, build, program, and optimize your own competitive SUMO robots. Embrace this opportunity to explore the captivating world of robotic competitions and unleash your creativity.
