Dr.Firas Kafiah

Dr. Feras Kafiah received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Materials and Manufacturing) in 2016. Prior to joining HTU, he worked as a researcher at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in a collaboration projects with MIT. He is the inventor and co-founder of SmartCure startup. He received his BSc and MSc with honour in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering from the Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Dr. Kafiah’s previous and current focuses are on smart materials and structures, from idea stage to the market. Dr. Kafiah is also in the technology transfer, entrepreneurship and innovation practices as a tools for technological entrepreneurs. He taught many courses in the field of materials and manufacturing and managed R&D projects for several factories in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, they were mainly to optimize production lines and develop new types of materials and products. He won many prizes locally and in the Middle East in technology entrepreneurship and innovation. He published several high impact factor journal and conference papers. Currently, he is the Vice Dean of School of Engineering Technology (SET) and the Head of ME department at HTU.
